CPC INOX IS AMONG THE WINNERS OF ECO PACK 2024 FOR SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

The company is recognised by the CONAI tender for its recycled packaging project launched this year, which has reduced the use of plastic by more than 20%.

More than 400 ecofriendly packaging projects took part in the 11th edition of the call for entries promoted by CONAI, the National Packaging Consortium, which rewards Italian companies that distinguish themselves by investing in sustainable packaging projects. We are happy to announce that we have entered the list of 2024 winners, with our packaging project. A path that was born from listening to and analysing the requests of our customers to create a sustainable solution, which led to a reduction in the use of plastic in the order of more than 5 tonnes

(-20% compared to the amount produced in 2022) and a substantial increase in the use of recycled plastic, from around 20% to an average of 80%, depending on the type of packaging. These virtuous reductions in consumption are also accompanied by significant savings in the overall cost of packaging, due to the use of materials “second life” or reconditioned.

OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

The company’s investment in sustainable packaging is just one of the ongoing projects of CPC Inox, now in its second sustainability report this year, with the increasingly clear objective of certifying its efforts towards environmental, energy and social sustainability. In fact, the company’s latest Sustainability Report 2023 demonstrated the company’s many virtuous behaviours towards the environment and its staff. In 2023, CPC Inox has consolidated its transition towards a low greenhouse gas emission economy through thermal and water efficiency operations and the connection of photovoltaic systems in the Basiano and Gessate sites, significantly reducing the emission intensity of CO2 equivalent per ton of product, which has gone from 22.83 kg in 2022 to just 10.44 kg in 2023 (Calculation made considering the total Scope 1 + Scope 2 Market-based emissions).

The investments in R&D and innovation did not stop at the packaging project: CPC Inox laid HydraToZero, an innovative stainless steel water piping system designed to significantly reduce water waste and ensure better water quality and faster maintenance than traditional plastic pipes, in Ancona and province, and the project will soon find other applications.

Finally, CPC Inox has been collaborating for some time with ForestaMi, the project promoted by several Milan institutions and by the Municipality of Milan itself for the planting of 3 million trees by 2030, in order to increase the city’s natural capital, clean the air and fight climate change. To date, CPC Inox has supported the planting of 350 new trees in the municipality of Gessate, reinforcing its link with the local environment.

A CHALLENGING PROJECT THAT BROUGHT SATISFACTION

‘We are delighted to have received this important award from CONAI,’ says Chiara Barzaghi, Consumable and Supplies Purchasing Manager. ‘It was a project that required a lot of research and attention to the delicate relationship between efficiency and sustainability. Packaging is an indispensable part of the product and preserves its characteristics and quality during the various stages of transport up to the final application. Our aim was to combine the functionality of the packaging with a focus on sustainability, using remanufactured materials, with a significantly lower impact on the environment and consequent savings also in economic terms. This achievement gives impetus to CPC Inox’s project towards an increasingly sustainable energy and environmental transaction, to face tomorrow with concrete and innovative solutions that already revolutionise the present.’
